CGL Fantasy Strike Invitational Wrap-Up

Hey there fans! Leontes here with a post tournament report.

In case you missed it, last Friday the Console Gaming League hosted an invitational tournament for Fantasy Strike featuring pro players from all over the FGC. My first post regarding the attendees can be found here.

We had players from the Mortal Kombat, Injustice, Killer Instinct, Fighting EX Layer, Samurai Shodown, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter V and Hero Versus communities (what a mouthful!) showing off what they’ve learned in Fantasy Strike during the short time it’s been out, and the results have been spectacular! It really goes to show that our design decisions to make the game easy to learn and understand (whether you’re new to the genre or a seasoned veteran) have paid off!

Notably, our own 2017/2018 Evo Champion FinalAbe attempted to defend his title against the pros, and ended up losing twice to Killer Instinct legend Nicky “Nicky” Iovene. Famed Mortal Kombat/Injustice player Christian “ForeverKing” Quiles didn’t drop a set with his triple Zoner composition, edging out Nicky in Grand Finals, 2-1. Shoutouts to Jackal, Mikeand1ke, Wheels, Zyphox, LPN, Infinitii, Candy, Charbok and MacTooCold for providing us with some fantastic matches as well!

Here are the final standings, with a full link to the bracket, here:
1. ForeverKing

I had a blast casting this with Nabil “Nebtune” Pervez, so I wanted to share with you some of my favorite moments from the tournament. You can find the entire tournament VOD here on Twitch

Without further ado, here are my top clips from last Friday (with a special appearance by myself in the last two >:))

Thanks so much for watching! We hope to bring you more awesome tournament footage in the future. Shoutouts again to the crew at CGL for doing a fantastic job on stream production, and to all the players who participated in the tournament. It really means a lot to us to see all of you coming together in our game.
